INFORMATION FOR CHAPTERS
Points of Contact:
If you are a chapter with a project, your main points of contact with EWB-USA will be the following:
- Chapter Relations Manager (CRM): who helps with chapter, fundraising, project and just general questions
- Project Manager: who helps with technical questions
- Liaison: who helps with questions about the country in which you are working.
These people can help your chapter find a professional mentor or someone with expertise in a particular area for your project, and help with logistics overseas.
Starting a Project
There are two ways chapters can Start an EWB-USA Project: 1) Submit a new project application to EWB-USA or 2) Apply for an open project.
EWB-USA also has research projects for chapters to acquire to help create technological solutions for everyday developing world challenges.
EWB-USA projects can make great senior design projects.
Project Process:
If your chapter already has a project, your chapter will work directly with the host community or NGO in order to develop the detailed design and work out travel details. See the Project Process page for more information on timelines and managing expectations.
Prior to traveling, the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) must review all logistical and technical trip information. Upon returning, EWB-USA asks for a report of your chapter's trip. See the TAC and Travel page for more information.
Technical Leads/Professional Mentors:
Technical Leads/Professional Mentors are members of the project team who have the appropriate technical background to oversee the technical aspects of a project. The term "Professional Mentor" is used io describe a student chapter's technical lead. There can be Technical Leads/Professional Mentors on a project.
Technical Information:
EWB-USA does have technical resources available for EWB-USA members. Login to the MyEWB section of the website and click on resources.
