ROTARY and ENGINEERS WITHOUT BORDERS-USA
Engineers Without Borders-USA is proud to collaborate and work with Rotary and Rotarian engineers throughout the world.
EWB-USA is dedicated to partnering with developing communities to improve their quality of life through implementation of environmentally and economically sustainable engineering projects, while developing internationally responsible engineers. Our primary projects involve clean drinking water, sanitation, energy, water supply, schools, bridges, health clinics, agriculture and much more.
Rotary International (RI) is one of EWB-USA’s largest supporters. Rotarians around the world have come to trust EWB-USA (and other EWB’s from around the world) as a valuable partner for accomplishing Rotary projects. Many of EWB-USA’s members are Rotarians (including the past two EWB-USA Board Chairs).
There are several ways for Rotary Clubs and Rotarians to get involved with EWB projects:
-
Partner with an EWB-USA Chapter to fund an existing EWB-USA project. Click here to review EWB-USA projects seeking funding assistance. You may sort by country or type of project.
Grants from Rotary clubs, Rotary District Simplified Grants and/or Rotary Matching Grants can be used to fund water and sanitation projects.

-
If your Rotary Club has a project that needs engineering help then we recommend reading through our information on submitting a new project to EWB-USA. You'll be asked to answer questions on a project application (also available in Spanish), and that application will be reviewed by a committee that will decide if the project is appropriate for EWB-USA.
Once your project is accepted by EWB-USA, it is posted on the website as an "Open" project so that a chapter can adopt it. Once it is adopted, your chapter will contact you and begin discussions with you about what is needed.
EWB-USA provides long-term support for communities and regions. We will continue to return to the project community and surrounding communities with additional concerns each year. This also allows us to check on previous projects to make sure they are functioning as they should.
-
Rotarians may choose to join Engineers Without Borders-USA or join a professional EWB-USA Chapter. Membership is not limited to engineers.
-
Rotarians can add their name to the Rotary Volunteer list or can volunteer directly with EWB-USA.
Rotary clubs may always contact the EWB-USA Rotary Coordinator to facilitate the partnering process: rotary@ewb-usa.org.
