Premier Chapters

EWB–USA recognizes a number of premier chapters each year at the EWB-USA International Conference.  The chapters are chosen based on the following criteria:
  • Technical preparedness, presentation and design
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity
  • Community Education and participation
  • Health and Safety for the community and the chapter
  • Administrative attentiveness and following EWB-USA procedures and guidelines
The EWB-USA Premier Chapters of 2010:

From the North East Region: The Northeastern University Student Chapter

Northeastern University has continued to exceed expectation in technical preparedness for their projects while adhering to the EWB-USA processes and procedures. They have been incredible in building a strong chapter, fully engaging its members and always willing to share their resources with other chapters.

From the South Central Region: The Central Houston Professional Chapter

Central Houston Professionals demonstrate long-term commitments to the communities in which they work as well as to sustainable and holistic development solutions. They produce dedicated leaders within their chapter and actively participate in our Health and Safety and Technical Advisory Committees.

They also work closely with student chapters in their area to ensure the students success through mentorship, knowledge and resource sharing. Through their commitment to EWB-USA they exemplify a sustainable chapter legacy.

From the South East Region: The Nashville Professional Chapter

Nashville Professionals excel at providing mentorship and partnership to professional and student chapters in the region.

They are diligently compliant with EWB-USA procedures and show preparedness in assessment plans, designs, and implementations.

They set an example with their competency in the project process as well as their ability to connect and support other chapters.

From the West Coast Region: The Las Vegas Professional Chapter

The Las Vegas Professionals consistently exceed expectations in fundraising efforts, local outreach, and increasing awareness of EWB-USA.

Their project teams have incredible momentum in moving forward with appropriate project preparation and design while following EWB-USA timelines and procedures. Also, their commitment to cultural awareness is evident in the strong and lasting relationships they have established with community partners.

From the Great Lakes Region: The Michigan Tech University Chapter

Michigan Tech University has produced dedicated students and professionals who have taken on leadership roles in professional chapters and several EWB-USA regions. What is exceptional about this chapter is not only their dedication to high quality projects and successful outcomes for communities, but their focus on turning those lessons into leadership.

From the Mountain Region: The University of Arizona Chapter

University of Arizona is active in engaging members in organizing local activities as well as in following through with the EWB-USA project process.

They exemplify what is possible when a chapter seeks to build multi-disciplinary teams, taping resources in diverse university departments.

The students' commitment to building a strong chapter has ensured the successful completion of projects while keeping members engaged.

From the Midwest Region: The Minnesota Professional Chapter

The Minnesota Professionals excel not only in the technical preparedness of their projects and their commitment to working with their communities but also in their relationship with the nearby student chapter. They are always responsive to the students, helping to organize joint fundraisers and provide guidance to the students not only on EWB-USA projects but also on the life transition from student to professional working engineer. Their commitment to fostering responsible engineers is truly exemplary.
